The Living Area

The living area includes the stoves and a baking oven. The triple stove is stylised on the Maghrebi Arab idea. It substituted the former Roman styled stove, but retained the adjacent corbelled stone baking oven. The roof, formerly a couple of courses higher and supported with logs, was lowered and set to rest on elliptical arches inserted into the walls in the Arab era.

The arches were painted and decorated with geometrical designs as spirals. Beneath the painting a set of Neo Punic letters were found scratched into the stone: a probable link to the Templar Knights, whose crosses are common around the house. A Crusader bulla seal from the 12th century was recovered on site.
