The Courtyard Area

The courtyard area, formerly a larger open space with an olive mill was partially covered and converted into a washing area with a large limestone washing-basin and a scrubbing flagstone next to it. The water- cistern close by was used to store both water and olive oil produced on site. The wall adjacent to the washing basin is witness to stone recycling from an older building. The courtyard space was built up in the 1970s, till all concrete structure was removed during restoration.
