The Hidden Staircase

The hidden staircase leads to an upper storey room. It was blocked to prevent visibility from the main door in case of invasion or attack on the household. The lateral door was opened to serve as a covert escape route in case of an attack on the house. Later the back-room served as a changing- / locker-space for the servants.
