The Butler’s room

The Butler’s room: The Butler or Maggiordom was the head of the servants in the Maltese context of the nobility of those who pretended to be well-off. The walls are still reminiscent of the fires set by the retreating Ottomans in 1565 and the ransacking French troops in 1799. At this landing a male voice echoes – a possible feature of the architectural design intended to reduce the possibilities of conspiracy against the noble and his family.
